Kremlin criticizes Poland's WWII anniversary decision

The Kremlin negatively assesses Poland's decision not to invite Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. Any celebrations of the anniversary of this war without the participation of Russia will not be complete, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, said. “The the role of our country in ending World War II cannot be overestimated,” he added.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement last week stated that Poland's decision “ignores the historical logic.” In response, Paweł Mucha, the deputy head of the office of the President of the Republic of Poland, said that invitations had already been sent and explained that the list of the invited countries was related to those countries’ participation in NATO, membership in the EU and cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership format.
