Poland Among Europe’s Lowest in Female Representation on Company Boards

At the end of 2024, women held 18.4 percent of board and supervisory positions in the 140 largest companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange – according to 30% Club Poland. The Women on Boards Directive mandates that 33 percent of all executive positions be occupied by the underrepresented gender. Improving gender balance requires quotas, transparent recruitment, and merit-based selection criteria.
"The low percentage of women on boards means companies lack proper representation of society – our customers and consumers. Since women make up 52 percent of the population, they should be present in decision-making, creative, and executive roles," Bożena Leśniewska, Vice President for Business Market at Orange Polska, said.
According to 30% Club Poland, female representation on company boards rose by only 0.4 percentage points in 2024. By year’s end, one in five companies had all-male boards – while another 20 percent had at least 30 percent female representation – the threshold for minority voices to influence decisions.
