Poles divided about kids returning to schools amid rising Covid cases

Overall 33.3 percent of Poles said “no” when asked, “should children return to school on September 1, taking into account the epidemic situation,” even as 43.1 percent were in favor and 23.6 percent did not have any opinion. The survey was conducted by SW Research, a Warsaw-based market researcher, on behalf of “Rzeczpospolita,” a well-known Polish-language newspaper.
Poland’s government is currently set to open most schools on September 1. As many as 903 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Poland on August 21 – the largest daily increase in the number of infections since the beginning of the epidemic.
As of August 23, since the first coronavirus infection in Poland was detected on March 4, over 61,700 people have infected resulting in at least 1,955 deaths. More than 42,180 have recovered.
