Poland to Introduce Military Training for All Adult Men

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced plans for mandatory military training for all adult men, aiming to strengthen national defense amid rising security threats. The initiative seeks to expand Poland’s armed forces, though it will not reinstate conscription, abolished in 2008. Instead, it will follow a Swiss-style reserve system, allowing voluntary participation for women.
Tusk stressed the urgency of military preparedness due to the war in Ukraine and uncertain U.S. security commitments. The government also plans to increase defense spending, ensuring long-term military funding.
