Poland has spent tens of billions of dollars addressing the impacts of the energy crisis, according to OECD calculations. This includes nearly PLN 25 billion this year alone to support households, despite moving away from frozen prices. Starting July 1, electricity and gas prices for households will increase, as previous price freeze regulations expire. This partial unfreezing marks a gradual shift from state interventions aimed at mitigating the energy crisis exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. OECD highlights Poland's significant expenditure on energy support, totaling 5.2% of its GDP from 2021 to 2023, second only to Greece among 41 surveyed countries.
