GUS: at end of ‘24, 97% of companies employed fewer than 10 people

At the end of 2024, 97% of businesses registered in Poland's REGON system employed fewer than 10 people, according to GUS (Statistics Poland).
Companies with 10-49 employees made up 2.4%, while only 0.6% had more than 49 employees. Compared to 2023, the number of small businesses (0-9 employees) grew by 3.1%.
Among sole proprietors, 99.2% employed fewer than 10 people, with their total number rising by 2.7% y/y.
As of December 2024, there were 1.545 million legal entities and organizational units without legal personality in REGON, marking a 3.7% increase from 2023 (compared to 3.6% growth the previous year).
