Polarization Shapes Reality. A Rising Trend with Real-World Consequences

The Polarization trend has become a defining force in today’s socio-economic landscape, with its impact now reaching the critical threshold in the TMI (Trend Impact Index). This signals a growing societal divide, driven by digital algorithms, misinformation, and a decline in trust in institutions and communities.
Social media algorithms increasingly trap users in information bubbles, limiting exposure to differing perspectives. Deepfakes and fake news distort public debate, making meaningful dialogue difficult. As trust erodes – not only in governments and organizations, but even among neighbors – cooperation becomes more elusive.
“Polarization isn’t just political. It’s linguistic, cultural, and emotional. We often confuse anger with violence, using emotion to justify harmful behavior. But the real skill we need is openness to dialogue,” said Natalia Hatalska, CEO and founder of infuture.institute in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
Polarization also affects business and economic decision-making. Without constructive discourse, collective progress slows. In this fragmented world, emotional regulation and respectful dialogue are no longer soft skills – they're essential tools for navigating complexity, reducing tension, and rebuilding the social fabric.
