Nearly One in Three Suicide Attempts Has No Established Cause
According to data from the Polish National Police Headquarters, the reason for nearly 37 percent of suicide attempts in the first half of 2024 was not determined. In contrast, in almost 29 percent of cases, mental illness or psychological disorders were indicated. Much less frequently, the police statistics mention heartbreak, misunderstandings, or domestic violence.
Some experts commenting on the above data claim that these are not the actual causes, but are usually the triggering factors for suicide attempts. According to information from the Police Headquarters, in the first half of this year, suicide attempts mainly took place in apartments or homes, mostly on Mondays.
