Tusk’s Military Training Plan Raises Concerns

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced mass military training for adult men, citing security threats from Russia. The plan aims to boost reservist numbers and strengthen national defense.
However, experts warn of logistical challenges, lack of resources, and potential strain on the army. Critics argue that without proper planning, the initiative may disrupt regular training and overstretch military personnel.
“Training 8,000 people monthly is possible in terms of space, but at the cost of regular army drills. Where would commanders find instructors? From their best soldiers, whom do they critically need? The army would need a separate training division. An alternative could be private firms, defense organizations, and reservists,” Col. Piotr Lewandowski said.
While bolstering Poland’s defense is crucial, experts stress that a structured, long-term strategy is needed to ensure effectiveness rather than a rushed response to geopolitical pressures.
