Alicja Węgorzewska, director of Warsaw Chamber Opera (WOK), credits teamwork and dedication for the institution's recent achievements.
"Each link must work at the highest level," she emphasized, pointing to the collaboration of seasoned and emerging artists as key to their success.
Under her leadership, WOK has revived rare baroque masterpieces, including Handel's Julius Caesar, Rameau's Castor et Pollux, and Lully's Armida. These productions, performed with an orchestra playing historical instruments, have earned critical acclaim.
WOK also collaborates with baroque music specialists, such as choreographer Deda Cristina Colonna, and explores innovative blends of genres, exemplified by the “Jazz with MACV” concerts. Plans include recording projects like Spanish Night with guitarist Krzysztof Meisinger.
Węgorzewska’s vision is to maintain the highest artistic standards, ensuring each production showcases the collective excellence of the WOK team.
