Most Poles Prefer Peace Over Pay. Mental Wellbeing Becomes a Priority at Work

A new survey by Pracuj.pl reveals a growing trend among Polish workers: 7 in 10 are willing to accept lower pay in exchange for a calmer, less stressful work environment. Among neurodivergent candidates – such as those with autism or ADHD – the number rises to 84 percent. This signals a broader shift in workplace expectations, where psychological safety, structure, and predictability are valued more than ever.
The report highlights that 44 percent of neurotypical and 40 percent of neurodivergent respondents consider salary negotiations the most stressful part of the recruitment process. Moreover, one in three neurodivergent candidates sees clear, regular feedback as essential, compared to just 12 percent of others.
Experts argue that companies focusing solely on financial incentives risk alienating talent.
“The need for empathy, clarity, and routine is not about giving up on ambition – it’s about enabling people to thrive,” Jolanta Lewandowska-Bitkowska of Pracuj.pl said. For many, peace of mind now outweighs a bigger paycheck.
