Democratic opposition activist in PRL and father of current PM dies
The Chancellery of the Prime Minister confirmed the information about the death of Kornel Morawiecki. A few days ago he was hospitalized due to pancreatic cancer.
Kornel Morawiecki was a deputy and speaker of the Sejm. During the PRL he was an activist of the democratic opposition. In 1968, he participated in student strikes at the Wrocław University of Technology, then he printed and distributed leaflets and letters condemning the actions of the communist government and the Soviet Union. In 1982 he became a co-founder of Fighting Solidarity, and in 1990 its chairman.
Kornel Morawiecki was the father of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
