A quarter of Poles can’t afford a week-long vacation

In 2024, 27% of adults in the European Union could not afford a one-week vacation away from home, according to Eurostat. While this figure has slightly improved from 28.5% in 2023, it still reflects widespread financial constraints. In Poland, 25.5% of people were unable to afford such a trip—down from 27.6% the previous year and significantly lower than 52.6% in 2014.
The worst-affected countries were Romania (58.6%), Greece (46%), and Bulgaria (41.4%), while the lowest percentages were recorded in Luxembourg (8.9%), Sweden (11.6%), and the Netherlands (13%). Poland sits in the middle of the EU ranking but shows a notable improvement over the past decade, indicating a gradual rise in financial well-being.
