A new public library, designed with sustainability in mind, has opened in Białołęka at 6A Kłosowa Street. The 734 sqm building, created by AMBIENT studio, specializes in energy-efficient and low-emission structures. The library is constructed from wooden prefabricates, a rare feature in public projects, ensuring environmental benefits and reduced disruption to the local community during construction.
“We avoided the noise and significantly limited the number of transport trucks. The process took just a few months, much shorter than usual,” Magdalena Pios, founder of AMBIENT, said.
The library incorporates eco-friendly features such as rainwater collection, energy-efficient heating systems, and photovoltaic panels. Inside, sustainable materials like wood wool insulation and recycled linoleum floors create a natural, healthy atmosphere. The building also won the 2024 Warsaw President’s Architectural Award and a distinction for "Best Ecological Project" in the 2023 PLGBC Awards.
