The European Investment Bank (EIB) announced plans to grant Poland €200 million in favorable financing to enhance flood resilience, manage droughts, and regulate rivers. Part of a €1 billion package for flood-affected countries, the funds will begin disbursement in 2025, supporting recovery from past floods and future strategic investments like dams, levees, and floodplain projects.
The EIB had initiated talks with the Polish government following September floods to strengthen infrastructure against climate change and extreme weather. The EIB, an EU institution owned by member states, specializes in long-term loans for projects aligned with EU policy goals, including climate resilience and sustainable development.
