Germany is the largest recipient of Polish agri-food products

In 2024, Germany faced its second consecutive year of recession, with GDP contracting by 0.2%, following a 0.3% decline in 2023. As Poland’s largest agri-food export market, this economic slowdown raises concerns about the potential impact on Polish food exports, which have grown tenfold since 2004, reaching €13.38 billion in 2023.
Despite a stable export value in early 2024, the stronger złoty and lower export prices led to a narrowed trade surplus. Germany remains a key buyer of Polish tobacco, meat, fish, and cereals, though its share of Polish exports slightly declined in 2024. Poland continues to benefit from lower production costs, but future competitiveness depends on market conditions and currency fluctuations.
