In Q2 2024, the number of economically inactive individuals aged 15-89 in Poland increased to 12.667 million, representing 41.7% of this age group, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). This is a 0.5% rise from Q1 2024 and Q2 2023.
Women accounted for over half of the economically inactive population, making up 60.4% of this group (7.651 million). Economically inactive women represented 48.5% of all women in this age range, compared to 34.5% of men.
Urban areas had a higher proportion of economically inactive individuals (59.1%) due to their larger population, though the rate of economic inactivity was slightly lower in cities (40.9%) compared to rural areas (43.0%).
