Health Care Overshadowed in Presidential Race, Warns Medical Chamber

As Poland’s presidential campaign nears the first round of voting, the Supreme Medical Chamber (NIL) voices concern that health care is being sidelined. According to Dr. Iwona Kania, acting head of NIL's Communication Department, candidates have focused mainly on the health insurance contribution, offering few concrete proposals on broader systemic issues.
While contenders such as Rafał Trzaskowski (Civic Platform) and Szymon Hołownia (Third Way) support cutting the health contribution for entrepreneurs, others – including Karol Nawrocki (PiS), Magdalena Biejat (Left), and Adrian Zandberg (Razem) – oppose such moves.
“We are representatives of the health care sector, so we would like to hear more about the future of medical professions, education, and the fight against violence towards medical staff. That’s what was missing. We were fed campaign generalities,” Dr. Kania said.
Earlier in April, NIL called on candidates to present detailed plans for improving financing, cutting wait times, and ensuring equal access to care. Representing over 200,000 doctors and dentists, NIL urges that public health be treated as a campaign cornerstone, not a footnote.
