IKEA has announced that it is closing its store in Warsaw’s Blue City shopping center. This is a result of changes in the company’s development strategy.
One of the priorities for IKEA in Poland is the Warsaw market. We plan to further develop our operations in this region, with even more dynamics. We want to focus on new formats of customer meeting places that will be the answer to the changing needs of the inhabitants of the capital city and the region - said Karol Barcal, Regional Director of IKEA Retail Polska.
The decision to focus on new formats resulted in the closure of the smallest IKEA store in Poland located in the Blue City shopping center. As the chain informs, it was one of the “first smaller IKEA formats on a global scale, aimed at testing a new concept of a store with a limited offer but located closer to customers, in a shopping center”. The test of this local idea, however, is coming to an end.
In line with the company’s approach to growth, and in response to changing needs and increasing customer expectations, some test projects are coming to an end. One such project is the IKEA store in Blue City, which will run until the end of December 2021.
