Kia Polska has announced its disagreement with the competition authority UOKiK's findings and intends to defend itself using all available legal means following a decision imposing over 405 million PLN in fines for price-fixing and market division with 11 dealers. UOKiK claims that Kia and its dealers restricted sales to local customers, preventing competitive pricing. The investigation revealed that between 2013 and 2021, buyers could only purchase Kia vehicles from designated dealers, resulting in higher prices.
The largest fine was imposed on Kia Polska itself, with significant penalties on several dealers. Additionally, fines were levied on individual executives, and UOKiK noted that companies involved in such practices may qualify for leniency under their fine reduction program.
