Tadeusz Białek, President of the Polish Bank Association (ZBP), reported approximately 10,000 court cases related to free credit sanctions. He attributed the increase to compensation companies exploiting legal loopholes to challenge credit agreements. Most of these cases end in favor of banks, with many focusing on minor issues, such as incorrect designations of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) in contracts. Białek noted that while the concept of free credit sanctions is embedded in Polish law, the regulations need clarification. The ZBP has proposed legislative changes to the Ministry of Justice and other authorities, advocating for clearer rules and proportionate sanctions based on the significance of breaches.
