Warsaw councils have adopted a local plan for the Zawiszy Square area. The layout of Grójecka Street will be changed, a new section of the southern carriageway of Jerozolimskie Avenue and a linear park will be created. The plan also allows for the location of a high-rise building in the area of the square.
"The Zawiszy Square area is one of the most difficult in Warsaw in terms of communication to unravel. We have five inlets of huge streets there. On top of that, there will be a second line of Jerozolimskie Avenue, which is not there yet, but which residents are waiting for. It took quite a while to unravel this Gordian knot and we have finally got a development plan which, among other things, envisages possibilities there such as a tunnel or flyover - as reported by councilors. However, for the time being, the city does not have these types of solutions in the plan, as they also generate controversy," City Hall spokeswoman Monika Beuth said.
She added that these are quite distant prospects.
