Netflix unveils blockbuster Polish disaster series "Heweliusz". Total spending on Polish film and TV productions now exceeds PLN 2.5 billion annually, with Netflix allocating PLN 400 million in 2022 alone.

Inspired by the sinking of the Jan Heweliusz ferry in 1993, the five-episode series is helmed by director Jan Holoubek and features a crew of over 140. Filming takes place aboard the ferry in Świnoujście and the Baltic Sea.

Netflix's commitment underscores Poland's growing audiovisual industry, with over 40 original titles produced. "Heweliusz" marks a milestone in Polish television history.
