Noise pollution affects 5 million Poles

The street and the roar of cars passing by the window, a neighbor's party, footsteps from the floor above, shouting, music from the radio, a barking dog, or loudly playing children – all these sounds contribute to what is known as noise pollution in apartments, a problem that can affect up to 5 million Poles. Often underestimated, it can lead to more serious health problems, causing irritation, headaches, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, and even contributing to cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, the acoustic aspect should be taken into account already during the planning and selection of the building project, especially if the property is to be located near a busy road or railway line. The standards provided by the law are not sufficient.
"According to the 'Healthy Homes Barometer,' one in four Poles is exposed to indoor climate-related risks, which include insufficient daylight, humidity, mold, cold, and excessive noise," Aleksandra Zybała, Communications Manager at VELUX Poland, said.
"The latter problem usually affects people living in cities, where noise is most commonly generated by traffic," she added.
