Orlen Group opens PGNiG branch to convert renewable energy to fuels

Orlen's PGNiG branch in Odolanów has launched an installation under the InGrid Power to Gas research program, converting electricity from renewable sources into gas fuels like hydrogen, as announced on Tuesday by the company. The initial focus is on producing "green hydrogen" using nearly 0.5 MW from a photovoltaic farm. The electrolysis-based installation aims to produce 20 tons of hydrogen annually, blending it with natural gas for testing in the distribution network's impact on infrastructure and end-use devices.

This initiative aligns with Orlen's strategic goals in the hydrogen economy, reinforcing its multi-energy sector presence across Europe.
