Poland’s renewable energy share in energy mix may reach 68% in 2030

Faster development of renewable energy sources (RES) than assumed by the Polish government is possible and realistic, according to estimates by the Instrat Foundation. The share of RES in the Polish energy mix could reach up to 68% by 2030, compared to the approximately 50% assumed in government scenarios.
This could result in savings of up to PLN 36 billion on the costs of natural gas purchases, CO2 emission allowances, and electricity imports. In the high ambition scenario, 68% of the electricity demand would be met by RES by 2030, while in the medium ambition scenario, the figure would be 53%.
The barriers to the development of RES are administrative and infrastructural, not economic, according to the report.
