Poland's renewable energy sector is booming, with 2023 seeing record production, but the country's overall energy transformation is lagging behind. This could hurt Poland's competitiveness in the EU, according to Ilona Jędrasik, the new president of the ClientEarth Prawnicy dla Ziemi Foundation.
"Polish energy must significantly accelerate its transformation towards renewable sources. In a business-as-usual scenario, the consequence could be a decline in the competitiveness of the entire national economy," Jędrasik warns.
Experts say that Poland needs to accelerate its transition to renewable energy sources. This will require better strategies, planning, and regulations.
The good news is that businesses and banks are ready for the transition. Jędrasik highlights this positive development, but emphasizes the need for the government and energy sector to catch up.
