The Polish space industry is poised for greater involvement in European Space Agency (ESA) programs, but it faces a growing need for skilled personnel. Paweł Wojtkiewicz, president of the Polish Space Industry Employers' Association, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent through academic and industrial collaborations.
“Ten years ago, finding an experienced engineer for space missions was challenging. Now, the landscape has improved significantly, but the rapid sector growth will create new demands for specialists,” Wojtkiewicz said.
Over 400 Polish entities, including SMEs and institutes, contribute to the space sector, specializing in areas like robotics, satellite communication, and Earth observation. The government has increased its ESA funding, ensuring that more than 90 percent of the allocated €360 million will benefit Polish firms and research projects.
As part of the effort to build a skilled workforce, a bilateral program with ESA allows Polish graduates to participate in prestigious internships, gaining hands-on experience in various scientific and technological projects. By 2025, 30 Polish candidates will have completed these internships, enhancing their capabilities for future contributions to the space industry.
