According to a study by CBM Indicator and SANP UW, 82% of Poles use prescription drugs, with the elderly being the primary users. However, 86% of respondents consider medications expensive, rising to 91% in rural areas. While 75% of respondents live near a pharmacy, this drops to 34% in rural areas, and 70% lack access to 24-hour pharmacies.
The survey also highlighted significant price differences among online pharmacies, with Gemini.pl offering the lowest prices, while I-apteka, Świat Leku, and Apteline were the most expensive. Mystery Shopping revealed that 24% of independent pharmacies lacked a licensed pharmacist during visits. Additionally, 21 out of 50 pharmacies offered paid pharmaceutical prescriptions, averaging PLN 32.
