Until 16 August, comments can be submitted to the National Space Program for 2021-2026, published by the Ministry of Labour and Technology Development, the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) said.
As the Agency reminded, the obligation to prepare the National Space Programme stems from the Polish Space Strategy (PSK) adopted by the government in 2017. It defines the goal of the Programme, i.e. to build a system of optimal advisory, financial and educational support tools for the space sector and institutions implementing and supporting the Polish space policy.
The draft National Space Program identifies four priorities.
The first is to build the capability to construct and launch space objects. This concerns both the independent construction of small satellites and the production of components for large international missions.
The second priority is the construction of the MikroGlob Earth Observation Satellite System. The system is to consist of satellites and a ground mission control station. The objective is to ensure an autonomous capability to provide satellite imagery for the security and defense sector, and for the needs of public administration.
The third priority is to build the National Satellite Information System, NSIS. As emphasized by POLSA, Poland currently has access to data from the EU satellite system Copernicus, but it is becoming necessary to ensure the possibility of using data also from MikroGlob and commercial satellites.
The fourth priority is the development of the National Space Security System. The system will be used to warn of threats connected with possible collisions of space objects, the fall of debris of spacecraft or celestial bodies to the Earth, and a sudden increase of solar activity.
