Wrocław-based startup SatRevolution has a letter of intent regarding cooperation with the space company Virgin Orbit, belonging to Richard Branson, the creator of the Virgin Group, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported. It's about the REC project, a system of observational nanosatellites.

The constellation of small satellites could be used in telecommunications, to predict natural disasters or to create very accurate maps. Stephen Eisele, VP of Business Development at Virgin Orbit, reckons that the project can have a big impact on the Earth observation market. Grzegorz Zwoliński, CEO of SatRevolution, estimates that such a solution will result in more than a 100-fold reduction in costs compared to large satellites, dominating the Earth observation segment.
