The first fifth generation heating network in Poland will be built in Szczecin. Maritime Science Center (MCN) in Szczecin will be heated using waste heat. An intelligent, low-temperature heating network will be built in Łasztownia, and the first heat recipient will be the MCN.

This solution facilitates the decarbonization of heating systems and the use of waste heat and energy from renewable sources, which significantly reduces the emission of harmful substances and heat to the atmosphere. This is the first solution of this type in Poland, but in Europe there are already energy self-sufficient areas based on the ectogrid technology, as Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna informed

Ectogrid is a technology developed by the energy concern E.on, which is a shareholder and partner of the project.

"We want to create an intelligent heating system in Łasztownia based on ectogrid – a fifth generation heating network, which will primarily use what we all have in excess, i.e. waste heat," Mariusz Majkut, President of Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna, said.
