World increasingly bets on RES

More and more RES is being built around the world every year. For the past few years, they have been leading the way when it comes to new power generation capacity.
At the end of 2022, there were 3,372 gigawatts of installed renewable energy capacity in the world. That's 9.6 percent more than the year before.
Renewables accounted for as much as 83 percent of the newly commissioned capacity in 2022. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) presented detailed data in its latest report. The report notes that the growth in RES capacity is concentrated in several regions of the world. Two-thirds of the new capacity – 174.9 GW – was built in Asia (excluding the Middle East of Russia, the Caucasus, and Turkey).
Of this, the largest number, 141 GW, was built in China. The country accounts for two-thirds of new hydropower capacity and nearly half of new wind capacity.
