The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) initiated proceedings against Allegro regarding suspected abuse of a dominant position by the largest e-commerce platform in Poland. This is the effect of the explanatory proceedings that have been ongoing since mid-2017, including company offices searched.
“Allegro runs not only a sales platform, but also sells products on it. In our opinion, it is not honest,” Marek Niechciał, President of UOKiK, said.
UOKiK reports, among others, that Allegro used internal data to better position its own offers in search results. In addition, it promoted its store on banner ads that others could not buy.
Allegro representatives do not agree with the officials' allegations.
