ArcelorMittal Poland and Linde Gaz Polska are collaborating on a hydrogen production plant at ArcelorMittal’s Krakow facility, with an investment exceeding PLN 100 million. Expected to be operational by late 2026, the plant will supply hydrogen for the steelworks’ galvanizing units and replace ammonia in the annealing process, enhancing safety and sustainability.
The Krakow branch has progressively shifted towards cleaner technologies, eliminating coal since 2018 and coke production by mid-2024. Hydrogen integration is a key step in ArcelorMittal’s decarbonization strategy, which has already seen PLN 2.5 billion invested in Krakow's operations to modernize facilities and reduce environmental impact.
Linde Gaz Polska’s expertise ensures operational safety and efficiency in hydrogen use. This initiative aligns with ArcelorMittal’s broader goal of adopting sustainable technologies and reducing its carbon footprint across production and processing.
