Business Leaders and Cultural Figures Appeal to Justice Minister Adam Bodnar

An open appeal to Justice Minister Adam Bodnar has garnered support from entrepreneurs, media representatives, and cultural figures, urging decisive action against the spread of fake news and hate speech online. Initiated by the Polish Business Council and the Council of Polish Entrepreneurs, the appeal has been signed by over 200 individuals.
The appeal highlights the detrimental impact of false information, offensive comments, threats, and discriminatory statements, which violate constitutionally protected values such as personal dignity and reputation. These issues affect not only adults but also children and those close to us.
"Fake news, hate speech, and the sense of impunity associated with anonymity are cancers destroying interpersonal relationships, acting destructively on our society. With a war raging beyond our borders, the division and incitement of various groups serve our enemies' interests," Rafał Brzoska, Chairman of the Council of Polish Entrepreneurs, said.
Brzoska also quoted Melchior Wańkowicz, saying, "If organic stupidity is an international disease like cancer, then disinterested envy particularly plagues Poland like the tsetse fly. The popularity of social media causes this envy to turn into disinterested hatred, which ruins our social bonds."
