The concept of Clean Transport Zones (SCT), already implemented in Warsaw, is set to expand to Katowice, Wrocław, and Kraków, according to Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Krzysztof Bolesta. These zones aim to reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions, crucial for public health, with several cities in Poland consistently exceeding emission limits, including Warsaw, Katowice, Wrocław, and Kraków. Bolesta emphasized the need for these zones due to health impacts and pending infringement cases in Brussels.
He highlighted Warsaw as a pioneer, with plans to verify vehicles entering these zones through technological measures like cameras and emission stickers based on Euro standards. The zones restrict entry to vehicles meeting specific emission norms, regardless of fuel type.
