Poles aware of threats in tap water, are concerned about water quality

A survey by Opinia24 for Uponor reveals that 77% of Poles are aware of E. coli risks in tap water, and 70% recognize threats from old plumbing, such as rust or lead. Concerns are growing about pesticides, heavy metals, and microplastics. Though tap water often looks clean, many report declining quality—20% describe it as average, with residue or odd taste. Some switch to bottled water or invest in filters. Experts stress that contamination often stems not from water sources, but from outdated infrastructure. Summer heat and old pipes can encourage bacterial growth, like legionella. True safety requires systemic upgrades, regular monitoring, and cooperation between municipalities, builders, and tech providers. Tap water quality is increasingly a public health priority.
