EC: Inflation in Poland at 11.7% in 2023, 6% in 2024

The European Commission has forecasted that inflation in Poland will reach 11.7% in 2023 and moderate to 6% in 2024. The report suggests that the peak of HICP inflation was likely reached in February 2023 at 17.2% and has since decreased to 15.2% in March. Factors such as declining energy prices, weakened domestic demand, and high interest rates are expected to contribute to the downward pressure on inflation, particularly on the core inflation components. However, inflation is projected to remain significantly above the central bank's target due to strong wage growth and the delayed impact of higher energy prices on core inflation.
