Exports to Germany fell 7.5% y/y to EUR 39 bln in Jan-May

Poland's exports to Germany decreased by 7.5% y/y to €39 billion from January to May 2024, while imports fell by 1.7% to €28 billion, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS).

Germany's share in Polish exports decreased by 1.4 percentage points to 26.9%, while its import share increased by 0.1 percentage points to 19.9%. The trade surplus was PLN 47.6 billion (€11.0 billion), down from PLN 64.1 billion (€13.7 billion) in the same period of 2023.

Among Poland's main trading partners, exports declined, except to Ukraine (up 6.8%) and the UK (up 1.0%). Imports fell except from the US (up 2.9%) and Spain (up 0.9%). Trade with the top ten partners accounted for 66.1% of exports and 61.1% of imports.
