Poland reported a trade surplus of €3 billion from January to September 2024, a significant drop from €8.6 billion in the same period of 2023, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). Exports decreased by 1.8% y/y to €260.1 billion, while imports rose slightly by 0.3% to €257.1 billion. In dollar terms, exports totaled $282.3 billion and imports $279 billion, resulting in a surplus of $3.3 billion compared to $9.3 billion in 2023.
Exports to Germany, Poland's largest trading partner, fell by 5.6% to €70.3 billion, while imports declined by 2.1% to €50.2 billion. Germany's share in Poland's total exports and imports also dropped. Notable export growth was recorded to Ukraine (+8.4%), while imports rose from the U.S. (+10%).
