According to data from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), 73% of active Forex market clients incurred losses last year, with an average loss of PLN 8,074 in 2023. The percentage of clients experiencing losses decreased in 2023, with both the average profit and loss per client decreasing. The average result per client was a loss, albeit lower than the previous year. In 2023, total losses incurred by losing clients were five times the total profits of winning clients. Among Polish resident clients, the average profit per client was PLN 10,950 in 2023, down from PLN 21,607 in 2022, while the average loss per client was PLN 17,456 compared to PLN 20,197 in 2022. Retail clients dominated Forex transactions in 2023, representing 99.8% of active clients and 87.1% of transaction nominal value.
The profits of Polish resident clients in 2023 amounted to PLN 249 mln with 22,812 active clients realizing profits, compared to PLN 336 mln and 15,554 clients in 2022. Losses incurred totaled PLN 1.05 bln in 2023, compared to PLN 1.132 bln the previous year.
