Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz has called for restrictions on short-term rentals, such as Airbnb, arguing that apartments should not be used for quick profits but as places to live. She highlighted that converting housing into short-term rentals reduces availability for local residents, contributing to high rental prices in Poland.

According to Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Poland has some of the highest rental costs in Europe, making it difficult for young people to afford to move out. She proposed two changes: creating a registry for Airbnb-type rentals to address the gray market and adjusting the tax system to discourage short-term rentals. This would help prioritize long-term housing availability for residents.
