Monetary Policy Council member Kotecki, wage growth hindering monetary policy

"We need to get used to a 3 percent GDP growth rate in Poland, and the number one problem for monetary policy is the high dynamics of wage growth" stated Ludwik Kotecki, a member of the Monetary Policy Council. "We have to get used to growth at the 3 percent level. We need to start forgetting about growth of 4-5 percent, for example, due to demographic reasons or deficiencies in energy transformation. We won't quickly return to 4-5 percent growth rates," Kotecki said during the European Financial Congress in Sopot.
He added that in 2024, a GDP growth rate of around 3 percent for Poland was "possible," with the main issue for monetary policy being the high dynamics of wages.
