The list of British advisory firm Brand Finance was headed mainly by German companies. Mercedes was valued the highest. Polish brands made it to the ranking, but they are only a background for the European leaders. According to the list, the value of the Biedronka brand is 1.7 billion euro, although during the year it fell by 2.5 percent. The company is in 272nd position, after promotion in a year by 13. Other Polish representatives have lost in value more strongly. PKO BP has lost as much as 25.2%. The brand with a valuation of 1.5 billion Euros has dropped as much as 54 positions to 304th position. After promotion by 25 places to 359th position was taken by PZU valued at 1.2 billion euro, which is 4.5% less than a year ago. In turn, the PKN Orlen brand is worth EUR 1.15 bln, 12.7% less than in the previous edition, which allowed it to occupy 375th position, the same as a year ago. The Polish newcomer to the list is Asseco, valued at EUR 900 million, up 12.1 percent.
Europe is dominated by automotive brands - Mercedes is the most valuable, with a valuation of 49.6 billion euro, before T-Mobile and Volkswagen. The top ten also include Porsche and BMW. There are as many as seven German brands in the top ten, other countries have only single brands, such as the Dutch Shell in the fourth position, the British EY, and BP.
Brand Finance reports that overall, the pandemic caused a 10% drop in the overall value of all 500 brands in the ranking on an annualized basis to €1.76 trillion. More than half of the brands in the ranking come from just three countries - Germany, France, and the UK. In contrast, Central and Eastern Europe have only 22 representatives on the list, including 15 from Russia.
