PGE CEO: plans are to allocate PLN 235 bln for business transformation

PGE has unveiled its long-awaited strategy through 2035, allocating PLN 235 billion to energy transition. The plan focuses on enhancing energy security and system stability by gradually replacing coal with gas power and expanding renewables and storage. By 2035, PGE aims to reach 10 GW in gas power, 4 GW in offshore wind, and 18 GWh in energy storage.
Despite no clear decision on separating coal assets, coal will remain necessary for the next decade. However, PGE expects financial losses from coal and seeks government support to maintain these units. Nuclear energy and offshore partnerships are also under consideration. The group plans to heavily invest in grid infrastructure, district heating, and flexible, sustainable power sources to transform its EBITDA profile.
