Pharmacy market up 8.4% y/y in April
The value of pharmaceutical sales in the pharmacy market increased by 8.4% YoY to PLN 4.08 billion in April, according to PEX PharmaSequence data. Compared to the same period in 2022, sales increased by PLN 316.3 million (+8.4%). However, sales decreased by PLN 399.2 million (-8.9%) compared to the previous month. The average turnover per pharmacy in April 2023 was PLN 319,000, representing a 10.4% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Refunded drug sales reached PLN 1.16 billion, an increase of PLN 65.6 million (+6%). Full-price product sales amounted to PLN 1.11 billion, up by PLN 129.2 million (+13.1%), while over-the-counter product sales reached PLN 1.77 billion, increasing by PLN 113.9 million (+6.9%).
The average retail price of drugs in April increased by 1.2% compared to the previous month and by 10.2% compared to the same period in 2022. The average pharmacy margin for all drugs in April was 24.6%, lower by 2.2% compared to the margin in the same period of 2022, and a 2% decrease compared to March.
