Poland is increasingly seen as an ideal place to live by Western Europeans seeking stability amid economic uncertainty and security concerns, reports Visegrad24. Poland has become a preferred destination with a dynamic economy, near-zero unemployment, efficient public transport, and a unique blend of modernity and tradition.
Safety is Poland’s stand out feature. According to Eurostat, only 4.4 percent of Poles reported crimes in 2019, compared to higher rates in countries like Bulgaria (20.2 percent) and France (14.7 percent). Poland also has one of the lowest homicide rates globally, at just 1 per 100,000 people.
The nation’s safety extends to women, with only 8.6 cases of sexual violence per 100,000 residents, compared to Sweden’s 200.34. Poland also scores 0.0 in the Global Terrorism Index, marking it as virtually unaffected by terrorism, alongside other Central and Eastern European countries.
However, road safety remains a challenge. Poland recorded 52 traffic fatalities per million residents in 2023, above the EU average of 46. Despite this, Poland’s reputation as a safe and affordable country continues to grow, making it a top choice for those leaving increasingly unsafe Western cities.
