Poland plans to allocate PLN 4.6 billion in its 2025 budget to start preparations for its first nuclear power plant, according to Bloomberg. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański announced that this investment is part of a broader strategy to reduce energy costs, which are 40-50% higher in Poland compared to Germany, France, and Spain. The nuclear plant is expected to be operational in about a decade.
The total project cost is estimated at PLN 60 billion for 2025-2030, with further funding from the U.S. for technology. This initiative is a key component of Poland's energy transition plan, which also includes renewable energy and infrastructure improvements.
