Polish Government Considers Budget Revisions Amid Lower Revenue Projections

The Polish government is considering amendments to the 2024 budget due to projected lower-than-expected revenues. According to recent statements, the central budget deficit for 2024 is planned at PLN 184 billion. However, there is a possibility of revising the budget if the revenue stream weakens further.
The current economic assessment highlights the stable job market, which supports the financial health of the Social Insurance Fund. Despite this, there are concerns that overall government spending may be significantly lower than initially budgeted.
Given the anticipated revenue shortfall, the government may need to activate measures to prevent the deficit from exceeding the budgeted limit. This could include a revision of the budget law. Additionally, the forecasted deficit for European funds is estimated at around PLN 10.5 billion.
